A weekend in Ingolstadt - more than just a stopover

Ingolstadt is not your typical city break destination, which is a real advantage for a relaxing short trip. No crowds, no queues at museums, and no overpriced tourist traps. Instead, you get a well-preserved historic old town, the Danube right next door, and one of Europe's largest designer outlets just a ten-minute drive away.

At 21rooms, you stay right in the heart of the old town, not in an industrial park on the outskirts. Each apartment features its own kitchen and living room, allowing you to enjoy breakfast in peace or unwind after a day of shopping without having to rely on restaurants. Check-in is handled via a code, even for late arrivals, with no reception desk required. The beds are high-quality and the windows are soundproof - essential for a stay in a vibrant old town.

A typical weekend: Arrive on Friday and enjoy dinner on Donaustraße. On Saturday, head to Ingolstadt Village, home to over 110 boutiques and discounted designer brands - it is best to go in the morning when it is quieter. On Sunday, explore the old town on foot, including the Liebfrauenmünster, Klenzepark, and the weekly market. You can reach us from Munich or Nuremberg in about an hour by car or train. The Village is open Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays, which makes the itinerary quite straightforward.

Impeccably clean and well-maintained, everything was fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The apartment was spacious and comfortable, equipped with everything needed for a short trip or a longer stay. The location was convenient and easily accessible. I felt right at home.

A charming, pristine hotel situated right in the heart of the city. The only minor inconvenience is the lack of on-site parking, though a large public lot and an underground garage are both available just a short walk away. The room was excellent.

Where quality is the standard

Luxury for those who appreciate quality
Outlet & Ingolstadt Village
Ten minutes to the Village, featuring over 110 boutiques. Arrive early to enjoy Saturday morning before the crowds arrive.
A relaxed city break
The Old Town, the Danube, Klenzepark, and museums—all within walking distance. A city you can truly experience in a single weekend.
Couples
Your own apartment instead of a hotel room, your own kitchen, central location. Arrive using a code, with no waiting time.
A quick getaway from Munich or Nuremberg
An hour's drive, a different pace. A riverside city instead of a big city, for the weekend.

Why an apartment is worth it for a short trip

A hotel room is enough for sleeping. An apartment turns your weekend into something more. You can enjoy breakfast in your own kitchen instead of a crowded breakfast room, spread out your purchases from the Village, and relax in a living room in the evening instead of being squeezed between a bed and a wardrobe. For two nights for two people, the price is often lower than a hotel room in a comparable location, and you have significantly more space.

How far is 21rooms from Ingolstadt Village?

It is about a ten-minute drive by car. If you are traveling without a car, you can take the bus, which takes about 25 to 30 minutes. 21rooms is located at Donaustraße 13 in the heart of the old town, while the Village is on the eastern edge of the city.

Is Ingolstadt Village open on Sundays?

No. The Village is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is closed on Sundays and public holidays. Exceptions are only made for specific Sundays when shops are permitted to open, which are announced in advance. It is best to plan your shopping trip for a Friday or Saturday.

Is there parking available?

21rooms does not have its own parking, but there are several parking garages within walking distance. The Hallenbad parking lot and the Stadttheater underground garage are both just a few minutes' walk away. For loading and unloading, you can stop briefly directly in front of the entrance on Münzbergstraße.

What is the minimum number of nights I can book?

A single night is possible, but these are released on short notice. For a weekend, we recommend at least two nights—Friday and Saturday—so that the trip is worthwhile and you have enough time for both the Village and the old town.

Can I travel by train?

Yes. Ingolstadt Central Station is accessible via IC and ICE trains from Munich and Nuremberg in about an hour each. From the station, it is a 5 to 10-minute bus ride to the old town. You do not need a car while you are here; everything you need is within walking distance.
