More than a hotel. A home away from home.

The idea behind 21rooms is simple: a place where you truly arrive - not just spend the night. No interchangeable hotel corridor, no bare walls. Instead, real living space, with character and the feeling of being welcome. 21rooms is a family affair. Uwe Emontz, a construction entrepreneur from Ingolstadt, bought the old Hillenbrandhaus on Donaustraße and rebuilt it from the ground up. Instead of renting the finished building to a large operator, his son Christian decided to run it himself. What could have been a safe rental became a business of his own.

Behind it lies a personal decision. When the pandemic shook up so much, it became the turning point for Christian: he left his career as a design engineer and project manager and built something of his own with 21rooms. That technical mindset still shapes the property today - processes that simply work, and an interior thought through down to the last detail.

The Foundation
the former Hillenbrandhaus on Donaustraße. It is demolished and rebuilt in the style of the original.

A New Plan
‍A request from a major local employer reveals a gap: Ingolstadt lacks high-quality temporary housing. The design is revised for more, smaller units. What was a residential building becomes an aparthotel.

Building Under Difficult Circumstances
‍Construction is underway, slowed by delays from the pandemic. We use the time for decisions no one will see later, but will feel every day.

Opening in June 2022
